Marcos Senesi is set to leave Bournemouth this summer, with the defender expected to depart on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old has informed the club he will not sign a new deal, and his representatives are already working to secure his next move.

His exit follows the confirmation that Andoni Iraola will also leave at the end of the season.

Liverpool are currently viewed as the frontrunners, as they look to strengthen their central defence, according to I Paper.

Virgil van Dijk has been heavily relied upon this season, while Ibrahima Konate has struggled for consistency and Giovanni Leoni has been sidelined through injury.

Chelsea and Manchester United have both monitored Marcos Senesi but are not expected to make a move.

United are targeting a younger profile, with Nottingham Forest’s Murillo a more likely option, while Chelsea are prioritising more physical defenders.

Interest from Italy has cooled, with both Juventus and Roma opting against a move after initial checks. Juventus were unconvinced he would be a guaranteed starter, while Roma have also withdrawn.

That leaves several Premier League clubs in the race. Aston Villa and Everton are among those interested, with Tottenham also monitoring the situation.

Senesi is expected to remain in England, with a decision on his future likely before the end of the season, although his wage demands could prove a stumbling block for some clubs.
