Arne Slot confirms Mohamed Salah Liverpool return date

The forward is set to feature in the tournament’s third-place play-off for Egypt against Nigeria in Morocco on Saturday

Arne Slot has confirmed that Mohamed Salah will return to Liverpool next week following his involvement at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The forward is set to feature in the tournament’s third-place play-off for Egypt against Nigeria in Morocco on Saturday, before reporting back to the AXA Training Centre.

Asked during his pre-Burnley press conference on when he expected to have Mohamed Salah available again, the Dutchman said: “Next week. We are in talks with him, what is expected of him over there, what is expected over here, but first of all he needs to have a game on Saturday and next week he will be back with us.”

He added: “First of all, he needs to play another big game for Egypt on Saturday and then he comes back to us and I’m happy that he comes back.

“Mo has been so important for this club, for me, so I am happy he is back. Even if I had 15 attackers, I would have still been happy that he comes back.

“That’s not our current situation, so happy to have him back after an important game he has to play.”

On whether Salah could come into contention for the Champions League trip to Marseille next week, Slot said: “That’s something we are talking about together now.”
