Liverpool join Chelsea in race to sign Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez

Kerkez has quickly established himself as one of the Cherries’ top performers this season

Liverpool and Chelsea have entered the race to sign Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez following his standout performances this season.

According to Mick Brown, former chief scout for Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers, a host of top clubs are eyeing the 20-year-old defender.

Brown, who remains well-connected in the football world, said that Manchester United are also targeting Kerkez as they look to bolster their left-back options.

Kerkez, who joined Bournemouth in 2023, has quickly established himself as one of the Cherries’ top performers under manager Andoni Iraola.

With 43 appearances for the club, including starts in all ten of their Premier League matches so far this season, the young full-back has consistently impressed with his defensive solidity and ability to contribute going forward.

The Hungarian’s consistency at such a young age has drawn attention from a number of top clubs, but Brown has cautioned that any potential deal for Kerkez will come at a premium.

Bournemouth are reportedly reluctant to part with him, especially in the middle of the season.

With the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea all monitoring his progress, scouts are keeping a close eye on his performances throughout the campaign.

Brown, who spent over a decade at Manchester United during their most successful period, emphasized that clubs will continue to track Kerkez’s development closely, making the left-back one of the most sought-after young talents in the Premier League.

“Clubs are definitely interested in him,” he told Football Insider.

“Chelsea were interested in him last season and that hasn’t gone away, and I’ve heard Liverpool have been keeping an eye on his development too.

“He’s been important to the way Bournemouth have played and has been really impressive.

“So it doesn’t come as any surprise that some of the top clubs are having a look at him.

“But Bournemouth won’t be quite so keen to see him leave.

“He’ll come at a premium because of that, and there also seems to be a shortage of top-class left-backs in the game so that ups his price again.

“But that interest is genuine and he’s one I’ve heard has attracted a lot of admirers.

“Whether a deal can be reached in January, I’m not sure, but Bournemouth won’t want to lose him mid-way through a season when he’s so important to them.”
