Alexis Mac Allister “could be moved on” this summer, according to The Times’ Paul Joyce, a development that could help fund Liverpool’s pursuit of a new midfielder.
Despite speculation over possible departures in midfield, it is understood the engine room is not Liverpool’s top priority.
The Guardian’s Andy Hunter reports that the main focus remains on signing two wingers and a right-back, though the club could still add a midfielder and a centre-back.
Inter Milan are continuing to monitor Curtis Jones, while Joyce also suggests Mac Allister could be among those allowed to leave.
The situation has intensified speculation around the Argentine’s future, with no talks currently underway over a new contract. His current deal runs until 2028.
Real Madrid have been linked with interest, but there is no indication of an imminent move.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are tracking Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, while Bournemouth’s Alex Scott has also been linked following Andoni Iraola’s appointment.
A move for Hertha Berlin teenager Kennet Eichhorn is also being explored, though he would not be available to join until 2027.
Mac Allister has been a key player since joining from Brighton in a deal worth an initial £35m, potentially rising to £55m with add-ons. He has made around 150 appearances for the club.
However, concerns have grown over his workload and form, with a noticeable dip in mobility and defensive efficiency last season.
While he still registered five goals and seven assists in 55 games, there is a sense Liverpool could be open to reshaping their midfield.
