Alisson Becker named in Liverpool’s squad for Champions League tie with Girona

Alisson has been out since sustaining a hamstring injury in the win at Crystal Palace on October 5

Alisson Becker has been named in Liverpool’s 19-man squad for their upcoming Champions League clash against Girona.

The goalkeeper is part of the traveling party that departed John Lennon Airport for Spain on Monday afternoon ahead of Tuesday’s fixture.

The Brazilian has not featured for the Reds since suffering a hamstring injury during their 3-1 victory at Crystal Palace on October 5.

Midfielder Alexis Mac Allister will miss the 5:45 pm GMT kick-off due to a one-match suspension in the Champions League.

Diogo Jota and Alisson were both involved in Liverpool’s first-team training session ahead of their Champions League clash. However, Federico Chiesa was absent from the session.

However, Federico Chiesa was absent from the session.

While Chiesa had made his comeback for Liverpool U21s earlier in the week, scoring in a 4-3 loss to Nordsjaelland, the Italian winger was not part of Monday’s session.

It is understood that his absence was due to illness rather than any new injury setback.

Arne Slot and his coaching staff called up five youngsters to join the first-team preparations, including Trey Nyoni and Amara Nallo, both of whom have been on the bench in recent matches.

Jayden Danns and James McConnell are continuing to build their fitness after back-to-back appearances for the U21s, while winger Rio Ngumoha and left-back James Norris also participated in the session.

Although Ngumoha is ineligible for the Champions League, he is expected to feature for the U19s in their UEFA Youth League match against Girona earlier on Tuesday.

Liverpool travelling squad: Alisson, Gomez, Endo, Van Dijk, Diaz, Szoboszlai, Nunez, Salah, Jones, Gakpo, Elliott, Robertson, Gravenberch, McConnell, Jaros, Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold, Norris, Quansah.
