Andoni Iraola is reportedly holding out for the Liverpool job after confirming he will leave Bournemouth when his contract expires, just weeks after guiding the club into Europa League qualification.
The 43-year-old has been linked with several top-flight vacancies since his exit from the Vitality Stadium was confirmed, although the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea are understood to have moved in different directions.
While Liverpool have no plans to part ways with Arne Slot, reports from Sky Sports claim the former Bournemouth boss has identified a number of potential destinations.
Andoni Iraola has held discussions with AC Milan, although those talks are said to have broken down. It is understood that the Spaniard has reservations about taking charge at the San Siro, with negotiations reaching an impasse.
The outgoing Bournemouth manager has also attracted interest from Crystal Palace following Oliver Glasner’s departure from Selhurst Park at the end of the season.
Palace are set for Europa League football next season after a strong campaign. Iraola is also said to be open to a move to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. Former Chelsea defender Filipe Luís is currently viewed as the leading candidate for the role.
Sky Sports reports that Iraola has been transparent with both AC Milan and Palace about his ambition to manage at an elite level, while still remaining open to a potential future opportunity at Liverpool.
Despite a difficult season, Liverpool’s hierarchy are expected to continue their backing of Arne Slot. The Reds secured the Premier League title in his debut campaign but endured a more challenging 2025–26 season.
There is still uncertainty over Iraola’s next move, with Bournemouth already understood to have agreed a deal to appoint Marco Rose as his successor.
Crystal Palace are also monitoring Pierre Sage, Frank Lampard and Kieran McKenna, although discussions with all three remain at an early stage.
