Andy Robertson insists Liverpool have plenty of scope to improve under Arne Slot

Since the Dutchman took charge at Anfield this summer, the Reds have won 18 of their 21 matches

Andy Robertson believes Liverpool have plenty of room for improvement despite their impressive form under head coach Arne Slot.

Since the Dutchman took charge at Anfield this summer, the Reds have won 18 of their 21 matches, propelling them to the top of both the Premier League and the Champions League standings.

Liverpool’s seven-game winning streak was halted midweek with a thrilling 3-3 draw away at Newcastle United.

However, Slot’s side will look to bounce back immediately as they prepare to face Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Saturday lunchtime.

Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated clash, Andy Robertson highlighted the positive atmosphere within the squad while emphasising that the team still has untapped potential under Slot’s guidance.

“He’s been a breath of fresh air since he and his coaches have come in. New ideas, new voices to listen to. I think the lads have taken it onboard really well,” he told TNT Sports.

“Pre-season was quite intense off the field because we had tournaments and were all coming back at different times, and he wanted to implement the way he wants to play.

“There were a lot of meetings, a lot of individual meetings, defensive meetings, attacking meetings and things like that.

“We knew they were going to leave no stone unturned, and I think they’ve been excellent. The lads have obviously bought into it. You see that in the results. That helps, it breeds confidence – but I think we can still get better.

“We’re still not there where he probably wants us to be, and we keep on proving [that]; we change things most games. But yeah, he’s been excellent and hopefully that can continue.”

The Scotland skipper added: “The style with which he coaches, and the style with which we play and the identity we have as a team, is something that is there to see.

“We’re all enjoying it, he’s getting the best out of players, that’s all you want as a player. We’re all willing to learn to improve.

“That’s what you want, he’s someone who will coach that into us. Like you’ve seen, the lads have bought into it from day one.

“That’s what you need as a new manager – when you’ve got willing lads to learn and receive feedback, then you’re halfway there.

“The tactics are mind-blowing as well. If I’m honest, I don’t think anyone would have said we’d be as good as we are.”
