Arsenal star Ben White to make England return under Thomas Tuchel

White has earned just four caps for the Three Lions in his career

Arsenal defender Ben White is reportedly preparing to make himself available for selection for the England national team once Thomas Tuchel takes over as head coach.

Despite being regarded as one of England’s top right-backs and earning his debut in 2021, White has earned just four caps for the Three Lions in his career.

White was called up to England’s 2022 World Cup squad in Qatar, but he left the camp midway through the tournament following a reported clash with former assistant coach Steve Holland while Gareth Southgate was still in charge.

Since then, the Arsenal defender has made himself unavailable for selection.

However, recent developments suggest that White may be ready to reconsider his decision.

Following Southgate and Holland’s departure earlier this year, after England’s disappointing loss in the Euro 2024 final to Spain, White is reportedly open to returning to the national team fold.

According to talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham, the 26-year-old is now willing to play under the guidance of new manager Thomas Tuchel.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Durham said: “I’ve heard from a very good source that Arsenal’s Ben White will be making himself available for selection in March.

“That will be when England play for the first time under Thomas Tuchel.”

He added: “I’m fascinated to see if Tuchel thinks ‘Yes, I’ll have him straight back in, he’s a top-four player, he’s playing regularly for Arsenal, so he gets straight back in’. Or, whether he says to himself, ‘This is somebody who didn’t care about England, so no I’m not going to have him back in’.”

White is currently sidelined due to a knee injury and has undergone surgery.

It is unclear when he will be fit to return to action for Arsenal.
