Calum Scanlon has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool and rejoined Cardiff City on loan for the 2026-27 campaign.

The 21-year-old left-back agreed fresh terms with the Reds before returning to Cardiff for another temporary spell.

Scanlon initially joined Brian Barry-Murphy’s side during the second half of the 2025-26 season, making eight appearances as the Bluebirds secured an immediate return to the Championship.

The versatile left-sided player can operate at both left-back and on the wing. He previously featured in the Championship on loan at Millwall, scoring once against Cardiff City.

Speaking on his return to the Welsh capital, Calum Scanlon said: “It’s brilliant to be back. It’s great to see all the lads again, speak with the manager and be back in the city. It’s an amazing feeling.

“I’m ready to go. It’s been a positive pre-season getting minutes. It was good for me. My body is ready for the season.

“I’m grateful for the experience I’ve already had here and I can’t wait to make new memories at the Club.”
