Ruben Amorim unlikely to take charge of first Man Utd training session on Monday due to work permit

The 39-year-old will fly to Manchester after his final game with Sporting Lisbon, who face Braga on Sunday evening

Ruben Amorim is unlikely to take charge of his first Manchester United training session on Monday as he is still waiting for his work permit.

The 39-year-old will fly to Manchester after his final game with Sporting Lisbon, who face Braga on Sunday evening, eager to begin his new role.

However, Ruben Amorim has yet to receive the necessary work visa to start working with the Red Devils, which casts doubt on whether he will be able to oversee training on his first day, according to the Guardian.

If Amorim’s visa is approved, he won’t immediately work with a full-strength United squad, as many players will be away on international duty.

Some notable names, including Marcus Rashford, will remain in Manchester during the break, but it remains uncertain when they will get their first taste of Amorim’s training sessions.

Man United cruised to a 3-0 victory at home against Steve Cooper’s Leicester City on Sunday in what was Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final game as interim manager.

With three wins from four matches, Van Nistelrooy’s tenure has been impressive as he prepares to step down.

After the match, the Dutchman reflected on his time in charge: “It’s been a short but amazing period.

“We are in an uncertain position, but we tried to do our jobs and help the club.

“The way the fans supported me and the team, in difficult moments, it was a special moment.

“To close down this block of games with good results and a good connection, I can’t thank them enough.

“We will learn what the further plan is now.”
