Arne Slot has admitted Liverpool will continue to operate a “sell-to-buy” policy in the transfer market, hinting at another busy summer for the Premier League champions.
The Reds are set for further changes after a disappointing campaign, following £450million spent on signings and nearly £300million raised from sales last summer.
Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are both expected to leave on free transfers after nine years at the club, while 20-year-old centre-back Jeremy Jacquet is set to join from Rennes in a £60million deal.
Slot, whose side were knocked out of the Champions League quarter-finals by Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, expects more arrivals as Liverpool look to strengthen several areas and bounce back next season.
“Much has been said that the club is in a transition,” said Slot to Amazon Prime. “The club has sold eight or 10 players to make money to sign five or so very talented players. We have to sell to buy.
“We are losing some players on a free transfer. It is a big challenge in the summer but the club has shown this model works.
“As I said many times the future looks very good, especially if we can sign players after good players leaving this summer.”
