Dominik Szoboszlai has indicated he sees his long-term future at Liverpool, but admits there has been no breakthrough in contract talks so far.
The midfielder’s representatives at EM Sports have been in discussions with the Anfield hierarchy over a new deal in recent months, with the Hungary captain currently under contract until 2028.
Liverpool are keen to extend the terms of their No.8 following his strong progress during his near three-year spell on Merseyside.
However, speaking after Sunday’s 2-1 win over Everton, Szoboszlai acknowledged that an agreement is still some way off.
The Hungarian played a key role in the victory, providing the assist for Virgil van Dijk’s dramatic stoppage-time winner at Hill Dickinson Stadium, as Liverpool claimed the first Merseyside derby at Everton’s new home.
Van Dijk’s header – from Szoboszlai’s corner – sealed the win after Mohamed Salah’s opener had been cancelled out by Beto. The result also secured Liverpool’s first league double over Everton since 2022.
“As I said (a few weeks ago), there has been no real progression,” Dominik Szoboszlai said. “So I cannot say anything new about my contract situation. We have a lot of games to go and I am focusing on that.
“As you guys maybe know, my contract ends in 2028, so I am ready to go every day, every week, and then let’s see.
“Of course I see myself here in the long term, but as I say, it is not really in my hands any more.
“I love being here, as I’ve said many times. I love the fans and I really like to be here. My family is happy. Let’s see.
“I’m completely relaxed. We have five games to go. Then I am going to rest – a big one, after my international break. Then we will see.
“The fans’ support, it means a lot. Every time they chant my name, it means a lot. I think we made it clear what happened against Manchester City at the Etihad.”
