Harvey Elliott ‘agrees personal terms’ with RB Leipzig

The 22-year-old was an unused substitute in Liverpool’s Premier League opener

Harvey Elliott is reported to have already agreed personal terms over a move away from Liverpool, with the club open to selling the midfielder for the right price.

The 22-year-old was an unused substitute in Liverpool’s Premier League opener, having played just six minutes in the Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace.

Despite the Reds currently lacking depth in forward areas, Arne Slot’s limited use of Elliott highlights the uncertain role he faces this season.

Liverpool are expected to sanction his departure if a deal worth around £40 million with a buy-back clause – or £50million without – can be reached.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, RB Leipzig are leading the chase and have already agreed personal terms with Elliott.

The Bundesliga club opened talks with Liverpool at the start of August as they prepare for the departure of Xavi Simons, who is close to joining Chelsea.

Plettenberg reports that Elliott is Leipzig’s first-choice replacement for the Dutchman.

He posted on X: “Harvey #Elliott is RB Leipzig’s top target to replace Xavi Simons, who is set to move to Chelsea after the Bundesliga opener against FC Bayern.

“Leipzig have agreed personal terms with the 22 y/o playmaker Elliott. #LFC keen to let him go with a suitable offer.”

Tottenham, West Ham and Brighton have also shown interest in Elliott, though Premier League clubs are yet to make a concrete move.

Despite the transfer speculation, Elliott has been vocal about his love for Liverpool but admitted earlier in the summer that he must also consider his own career progression.

“If I had it my way, I would be here for the rest of my career, it’s as simple as that. I love everything about the club,” he told The Anfield Wrap last month.

“But at the same time, I kind of need to be selfish with myself and see what’s best for me. I have big ambitions – I want to get in the World Cup squad and keep being successful as a player.”
