Joe Gomez set to return to action in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup tie against Tottenham
Gomez resumed training last week and is on course to feature at Anfield
Joe Gomez is set to return to action when Liverpool face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
The defender has been sidelined since suffering a muscle injury against Sunderland in pre-season but resumed training last week and is on course to feature at Anfield.
“He is training with the team,” head coach Andoni Iraola said on Monday.
“I think he’s going to be available for tomorrow and now it’s a matter of deciding how much he can play and what is the best thing to do.”
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Iraola was asked for an update on Conor Bradley’s rehabilitation from a long-term knee injury too.
“I think he is not close to training with the team,” said the boss. “He’s training alone but he has started touching the ball.
“Definitely I want him as quick as possible ready but it’s a long-term injury.
“I think [Giovanni] Leoni is a little bit ahead of him and still it’s going to take some time for Conor, yes.”
