Liverpool among clubs interested in Lille star Jonathan David

The 24-year-old's contract with the French club expires in the summer

Liverpool are reportedly one of several clubs keeping an eye on Lille forward Jonathan David, as the Canadian striker faces uncertainty over his future.

The 24-year-old, whose contract with the French club expires in the summer, has caught the attention of multiple European teams following his impressive performances this season.

David has scored 11 goals in 15 Ligue 1 appearances and played a pivotal role in Lille’s surprise victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool are among the clubs interested in the forward, with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Aston Villa also reportedly monitoring his situation.

Lille now face an anxious wait to see if they can retain his services beyond this season.

Despite interest from various top European clubs, including Juventus, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, and Bayern Munich, who are said to have long been admirers, Lille have reportedly made an offer to extend David’s stay.

However, the player has yet to make his decision, with some speculation suggesting that a departure is likely.

David recently addressed the possibility of a Premier League move, and his comments have only fueled speculation about his next destination.

“What am I waiting for? I guess now it’s easier to say. I’m in the last year of my contract.

“Eventually my contract is going to run out. So then we’ll see.

“We’ll see what happens next year. I’m open to anything.

“I think obviously the Premier League is regarded as one of the best league in the world.

“And for me it’s not the Premier League or bust. I’m open to anything and every league has its challenges.”
