Liverpool defender expected to leave this summer

Since joining Liverpool in 2020, Tsimikas has never started more than nine league games in a single season

Kostas Tsimikas is expected to leave Liverpool before the transfer window closes after being omitted from the squad for the Community Shield.

The Greek international was not included in Arne Slot’s lineup for the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace, which Liverpool eventually lost on penalties at Wembley.

Since joining Liverpool in 2020, Tsimikas has never started more than nine league games in a single season, mainly serving as backup to Andy Robertson.

This summer, Liverpool bolstered their left-back options by signing 21-year-old Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, a move likely to prompt Tsimikas’s departure.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tsimikas was approached earlier in the window by Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

However, Forest have since shifted their focus to Ipswich Town defender Leif Davis.

Tsimikas has made 115 appearances for Liverpool since his arrival from Olympiacos and has won four major trophies, including last season’s Premier League title.

Romano posted on X: “Kostas Tsimikas, expected to leave Liverpool as he’s been left out of the squad against Palace for this reason.

“Player prepared to go and try new chapter, already got approached by Nottingham Forest earlier in the window.”
