The January transfer window is beginning to gather pace as Premier League clubs look to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season, and Liverpool are no exception.
The Reds have endured a disappointing first half of the campaign despite a busy summer window that brought in the likes of Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike.
While Wirtz and Isak required time to settle at Anfield, there have been encouraging signs in recent weeks, though Isak is now set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury.
After booking their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup last weekend, Liverpool return to Premier League action on Saturday with a home fixture against newly promoted Burnley.
Although the immediate focus will be on that clash at Anfield, behind-the-scenes work is already underway as Liverpool assess potential January business.
The club have recently been linked with a move for £52million-rated midfielder Kees Smit, while England international Marc Guehi remains a talking point after a proposed summer move to Merseyside failed to materialise.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are reportedly open to allowing Federico Chiesa to leave the club during the January transfer window, with Juventus pushing to bring the winger back to Italy.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Serie A giants are prepared to make a concerted effort to complete a deal, with both a permanent transfer and a loan move with an obligation to buy under consideration.
Chiesa is also said to be keen on a return to Juventus, which could help accelerate negotiations between the two clubs.
