Liverpool prepare second bid for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak

The 25-year-old joined Newcastle in 2022 from Real Sociedad in a £60million transfer

Liverpool are preparing a second bid for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, according to Sky Sports News.

Newcastle have rejected Liverpool’s opening offer of £110million plus add-ons, which falls short of their valuation of around £120million.

Isak was left out of Newcastle’s squad for their pre-season tour of Asia as he seeks to explore a move away, despite the club qualifying for this season’s Champions League.

The offer from Liverpool has been submitted while Isak trains alone at his former club, Real Sociedad, amid ongoing uncertainty about his future.

The 25-year-old joined Newcastle in 2022 from Real Sociedad in a £60million transfer.

Liverpool were considering a move for Isak worth up to £130million earlier last month.

Newcastle have maintained that Isak is not for sale this summer, but that has not deterred Liverpool’s strong interest.

The Premier League champions made an initial approach last month and have now lodged an official bid.

Manager Arne Slot is keen to add the striker to his squad ahead of the new season.

Liverpool have already made several additions during a busy summer of spending, signing Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Armin Pecsi for a combined total of around £265million, excluding add-ons.

At the same time, key players Luis Diaz, Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher, and Trent Alexander-Arnold have left the club for an initial combined fee of £115million.
