Liverpool right-back Conor Bradley “making progress” after serious knee injury

Conor Bradley is “making progress” as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury, with Liverpool taking a careful approach to his rehabilitation.

Conor Bradley has been sidelined since undergoing surgery to repair bone and ligament damage sustained during the Premier League draw against Arsenal in early January.

The 22-year-old had made 21 appearances this season and had moved ahead of Jeremie Frimpong as Liverpool’s preferred right-back under Arne Slot before his injury ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

He also missed Northern Ireland’s World Cup play-off against Italy in March and remains unavailable for next month’s friendlies against Guinea and France.

Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill, who recently signed a four-year contract extension, has provided a positive update on the defender’s recovery.

In Bradley’s absence, and with Frimpong also struggling for fitness at times, Liverpool have been forced to deploy Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones at right-back.

The club are now considering reinforcements in that position this summer, having previously shown interest in Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries and Sunderland’s Lutsharel Geertruida.

“Conor is on his way back from his knee injury,” said O’Neill. “Obviously, we have interaction with Conor quite regularly.

“He sent me a text on my new contract, congratulating me. I spoke to him last week.

“He’s doing well, you know, he’s making progress, but like it’s not for me to put any type of timeline on that progress at this minute in time.

“We just want him back, fit and healthy, of course we do, as do Liverpool, but it’s important that how that injury is handled.”
