Liverpool to face competition from Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea for Sporting star

Liverpool are looking to bolster their squad

Liverpool have shown interest in Sporting Lisbon attacker Viktor Gyokeres, but they will face stiff competition from Europe’s top clubs.

While the Reds currently boasts a six-man attacking unit with options across all three forward roles, there are concerns regarding the future of key players like Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah.

Salah’s current contract situation raises the possibility of his departure at the end of the season, which could see Liverpool lose between 30 to 40 goals annually that would need to be replaced.

Meanwhile, Nunez has struggled to establish himself as the first-choice striker over two seasons at the club.

Gyokeres, who has been in outstanding form for over a year, could be a valuable addition to Liverpool’s attack.

According to Florian Plettenburg, the in-form forward would be able to leave Sporting next summer.

He posted on X: “Been told despite a release clause set at €100m, there is an agreement that Viktor #Gyökeres can leave @SportingCP next summer for €60-70m ✔️

“A move in the winter is currently not planned. A transfer in the summer is very likely.

“In England, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea are specifically interested in the 26 y/o. #LFC #CFC.

“All of the teams are informed about the transfer agreement. 18 goals and 7 assists this season yet.

“Top striker.”

Since joining Sporting CP from Coventry, Viktor Gyokeres has been nothing short of sensational.

The forward has scored 57 goals and provided 19 assists in just 64 appearances, establishing himself as one of Europe’s deadliest frontmen.

Last season, he netted an impressive 43 goals and registered 15 assists in 50 games.

Gyokeres’ early-season form suggests that his trajectory is only going upwards.

With 14 goals and four assists in 14 games so far, he is attracting attention from numerous top clubs across Europe.

If he maintains this level – or even with a slight dip – it seems almost inevitable that a major transfer awaits him next summer.
