Liverpool transfer target Omar Marmoush equals Lionel Messi record

Marmoush has emerged as a standout player for Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt

Omar Marmoush, who has been linked with a potential move to Liverpool, has equalled a remarkable free-kick record previously set by Barcelona legend Lionel Messi in 2019.

The Egyptian international is generating considerable transfer speculation, with rumours suggesting a potential link-up with fellow countryman Mohamed Salah at Anfield – should Salah extend his stay on Merseyside.

Omar Marmoush has emerged as a standout player for Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, attracting the attention of several top clubs.

Last season, he netted 17 goals for the German side, and he’s already scored 14 goals in just 16 appearances this term.

His form has drawn interest from major clubs, with Manchester City also reportedly monitoring his progress.

However, any Premier League suitors will need to make a significant investment, as Eintracht Frankfurt are said to be seeking between £50-60million ($64-77million) for the forward.

Last month, Liverpool legend Didi Hamann endorsed Marmoush’s potential, telling wettbasis.com that he believes the striker could make an impact in the Premier League.

Hamann stated: “I think that both Frankfurt strikers (Marmoush and Hugo Ekitike) are on the radar of the English.

“A wonderful couple that harmonise very well with each other.

“With Ekitike, we knew that he had great potential. He had indicated that last season, in the winter, and now he seems to be taking off.

“With Marmoush, I was always surprised at Wolfsburg that he didn’t really get going.

“But he’s a wonderful player, a great finisher, and has pace.

“So they’re both players who are obviously very interesting for the Premier League.”
