Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly in negotiations over a new contract with Liverpool, and according to teammate Alexis Mac Allister, the squad is eager for him to remain at the club.
Like fellow stars Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold’s current deal is set to expire at the end of June.
The uncertainty surrounding the futures of these three key players has become an unwanted subplot to Liverpool’s pursuit of Premier League glory and their impressive performances in the Champions League.
According to Mirror Football, Salah is on the verge of signing a new two-year extension with the Reds, while Van Dijk is widely expected to renew his contract as well.
This leaves Alexander-Arnold as the standout concern, with Real Madrid reportedly monitoring the situation and eyeing a potential free transfer next summer.
Speaking on the matter, Mac Allister offered insight into the dressing room’s perspective.
“Hopefully Trent and Virgil can continue with us along with Salah,” he told AS.
“Alexander-Arnold is crucial as we saw against Manchester City when he came back from injury.
“Like Salah, he is in negotiations and hopefully he can continue in the team.”
Trent Alexander-Arnold, a product of Liverpool’s academy, has been a cornerstone for his hometown club, amassing 327 appearances, 19 goals, and 85 assists.
At 26, Alexander-Arnold’s influence remains vital, even as Conor Bradley emerges as a promising successor.
However, Alexis Mac Allister understands the significance of Alexander-Arnold’s presence and is keen for him to stay beyond 2025.
“His (Trent) quality is enormous,” he added.
“I have always said that he was criticised for his defensive role, but I have no doubt that both in defence and attack he is a differential player.
“He is also strong and quick which allows him to find that balance between attack and defence.”
