New injury concern for Liverpool as Andy Robertson limps off at Stamford Bridge

The Reds suffered another heartbreaking late setback at Stamford Bridge

Liverpool have been dealt a fresh injury concern after Andy Robertson limped off the pitch following their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.

The Reds suffered another heartbreaking late setback at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea becoming the third team in a week to beat Arne Slot’s side.

Milos Kerkez started at left-back but was replaced by Robertson in the 55th minute.

The Scot provided an immediate improvement on the Hungarian until the game’s closing stages.

However, Robertson’s evening ended in disappointment as he lost track of Estevao at the back post, allowing the youngster to score Chelsea’s stoppage-time winner.

Moments later, the 31-year-old appeared to be in pain and required assistance from head of performance physical therapy Chris Morgan as he limped off the pitch after the final whistle.

Reporters at Stamford Bridge noted that Robertson looked uncomfortable as he made his way down the tunnel.

Journalist Lewis Steele observed that the full-back “looked in a lot of pain.”

Arne Slot did not provide an update on Robertson’s condition post-match, but further information is expected in the coming days.

His potential withdrawal from Scotland’s upcoming fixtures will likely offer an indication of the severity of the issue.

Scotland are scheduled to face Greece on Thursday before hosting Belarus on Sunday, both at Hampden Park.

While Liverpool hope the injury is not serious, many supporters may quietly prefer Robertson to miss the international break to rest and recover.
