Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is reportedly wanted by Nottingham Forest before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
The Georgian joined Liverpool last summer and made 20 appearances during the 2025/26 season while Alisson was sidelined with injuries.
However, Mamardashvili has yet to fully convince at Anfield, raising questions over whether he can become the Brazilian’s long-term successor.
Journalist Matteo Moretto claims Forest have enquired about the 25-year-old’s availability. Liverpool are aware of the interest but would require a significant offer to consider selling.
The Reds were reportedly open to loaning Mamardashvili out earlier this summer, with Juventus among the clubs linked.
However, allowing him to leave now would be a major risk given Alisson’s injury record and third-choice goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros’ absence until late 2026.
Selling Giorgi Mamardashvili at this stage would therefore be surprising unless Liverpool can bring in a direct replacement.
With the club already looking to strengthen other positions, it would make more sense to make a decision on his future next summer rather than on the eve of the transfer deadline.
Liverpool have reportedly made contact with Belgian club Genk over the signing of teenage goalkeeper Luccha Brughmans.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Liverpool have “targeted” the 18-year-old as a potential replacement for Mamardashvili and are “convinced by the future potential” of the highly rated goalkeeper. Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested.
Fabrizio Romano has corroborated the report, stating that “official club-to-club contact with Genk” has taken place. Liverpool are assessing whether to sign Brughmans now if Mamardashvili joins Nottingham Forest or wait until next summer.
Brughmans has represented Belgium at five youth levels, earning 25 caps from the Under-15s to Under-19s. He has also made 15 appearances for Genk, keeping six clean sheets.
However, selling Mamardashvili this late in the window would be a major risk. With Alisson’s injury record and his contract expiring next summer, Liverpool would be taking a gamble by relying on Brughmans and Freddie Woodman as cover.
Brughmans has significant potential, but bringing him in next summer while keeping Mamardashvili for another season could make more sense for Liverpool.
