Kevin De Bruyne remains sidelined for Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola providing a concerning update on the Belgian star’s recovery.
De Bruyne has been out of action since sustaining an injury during the first half of City’s Champions League draw against Inter Milan in September.
Midweek, Guardiola stated that De Bruyne was “some time away” before City’s emphatic victory over Sparta Prague.
However, he has now confirmed that there is still uncertainty regarding the timeline for the midfielder’s return.
“No, not yet [available]. I don’t know,” Guardiola said.
“Yes, of course, I prefer to have all the squad for the amount of games, but it is what it is.
“Hopefully he comes back soon, I don’t know yet.
“I’d like to tell you but I don’t know.
“I don’t know, I’m sorry.”
Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Kyle Walker, Jeremy Doku, and Jack Grealish will miss the trip to Bournemouth.
Walker, who returned from international duty with a knee injury, will also be sidelined for the upcoming Champions League match.
When asked about their potential return to action, Guardiola stated: “I cannot tell you, I don’t know.”
He added: “We have four important absences with Kevin, Kyle, Rodri and Oscar [Bobb].
“Two of them can hopefully come back [soon].
“Oscar may be January and February, I think will be ready. Rodri the season.
“We need them but all the clubs in Europe who play three competitions have quite similar problems.”
On Russell Martin and the Saints, Guardiola said: “He (Russell Martin) will have success.
“When this happens you always have success.
“If you change ideas and thoughts, not adjust something four or five at the back.
“If you start to change the thoughts, the players will notice and know you’re not a big believer.
“Sooner or later the results are coming.
“Always teams have bad results like Wolves but look what happens, we struggled to win.
“Against Brentford, Manchester United, for the first half hour Leicester they start really good.
“They have good moments and courage.
“The use of [Aaron] Ramsdale is always it’s difficult.
“After Champions League I prefer to play teams higher in the table for better concentration. It is what it is.”
