Premier League manager looking forward to facing Manchester United manager target

Ruben Amorim is the leading candidate to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United

Premier League boss Fabian Hurzeler is excited about the possibility of facing Ruben Amorim if the Sporting Lisbon head coach is appointed at Manchester United.

Amorim has been linked with a move to Old Trafford following the sacking of Erik ten Hag.

Man United’s hierarchy are reportedly considering triggering the release clause in Amorim’s contract, and the Portuguese coach appears to be interested in the opportunity.

Although negotiations are still in the early stages, several of Amorim’s potential rivals have started discussing his potential appointment.

Brighton manager Hurzeler has expressed admiration for Amorim and the style of football he advocates.

When asked if he had any advice for the Portuguese coach, the German responded: “39, he’s eight years older than me.

“I think that he achieved already great things in Portugal so I saw some games from him and he plays incredible football.

“It’s very dominant in possession.

“I’m not in a position to give him advice.

“If he needs advice, he might call Pep or Jurgen Klopp or some coaches like this.

“I’m not in a position to give anyone advice. I’m also in a learning process.

“I try and give my best. Let’s see what happens in Manchester.

“It’s always great to face new coaches, to compete with them and this will be another challenge.”

Brighton have already faced the Red Devils once this season, securing a 2-1 victory at the Amex Stadium in August.

Former United star Danny Welbeck opened the scoring that day, followed by Amad Diallo’s equaliser.

However,  Joao Pedro sealed the win with a stoppage-time goal.

Hurzeler and Amorim could potentially meet for the first time in January during the return match at Old Trafford.

Brighton’s boss isn’t the only one praising Amorim ahead of a possible move to United.

Red Devils captain Bruno Fernandes has also expressed that he could be ready for the transition.

“Since Mr Amorim arrived at Sporting, it has been one of the teams to play the best football,” Fernandes said.

“They have been consistent, the signings have been right and they are in a very good moment. It’s a very well prepared team.

“In relation to Amorim, he shows that he is prepared at this moment.

“Coaching Sporting and winning championships is not easy, Sporting went 20 years without winning championships and Amorim arrived and has already won two, this shows that the work has been done well.

“If he could manage to do the same in England, Spain or anywhere else, you will never know until you get there, but I’m sure his qualities are there for everyone to see.”
