Real Madrid confirm signing of Ibrahima Konate on free transfer

The LaLiga side have agreed a four-year deal with the centre-back, who will join on a free transfer when his contract expires at Liverpool on June 30.

Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of defender Ibrahima Konate.

The LaLiga side have agreed a four-year deal with the centre-back, who will join on a free transfer when his contract expires at Liverpool on June 30.

Konate announced earlier this summer that he would leave Anfield after failing to reach an agreement on a new deal.

He made 183 appearances for the Reds after joining from RB Leipzig in 2021, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and two League Cups.

A club statement read: “Real Madrid CF and Ibrahima Konate have reached an agreement whereby he will be a Real Madrid player for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2030.”

Ibrahima Konate joins Bernardo Silva and Marc Cucurella as José Mourinho’s first signings since returning for a second spell in charge at the Bernabéu.

Real Madrid have also completed the £51.8m signing of Cucurella from Chelsea, while Denzel Dumfries is set to arrive from Inter for around £17m.

The arrivals of Silva, Cucurella, Dumfries and Konate highlight a shift in transfer strategy, with the club prioritising experienced players ready to make an immediate impact.
