Real Madrid told to sell Vinicius Jr by Florentino Perez’s son

Officials in Saudi Arabia are said to be considering a move for the Brazilian star

Real Madrid reportedly faces internal discussions over selling Vinicius Jr, with club president Florentino Perez’s son, Chivo Perez, advocating for a potential transfer.

Officials in Saudi Arabia are said to be considering a move for the Brazilian star, who was heavily linked with a transfer to the Middle East during the summer of 2024.

Despite strong interest from big-spending clubs in the region, no deal materialized due to the €1 billion (£832m/$1.1bn) release clause in Vinicius’s contract.

While no club is currently prepared to meet that exorbitant figure, reports indicate that Vinicius could still earn close to that amount over a five-year contract if he were to move to the Saudi Pro League.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, could potentially secure a fee between €400-500m (£333-416m/$422-528m) if they decide to sell.

Vinicius has expressed a desire to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu “forever,” but according to Sport, Real Madrid officials are contemplating a sale ahead of the contract renewal talks that will be necessary before his current deal expires in 2027.

Chivo Perez is reportedly among those who support the idea of a sale, suggesting that it could alleviate several issues for the club.

Parting with Vinicius would address financial concerns at the Spanish club and create room for World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe to play in his preferred left-wing position, where he has struggled to find consistency as a central striker.

While an agreement of this magnitude remains distant, reports indicate that Real Madrid are not entirely dismissive of the idea of selling Vinicius Jr.

The forward has emerged as a key player in recent seasons, with his performances earning him consideration for the Ballon d’Or, making any potential transfer a significant decision for the club.
