Tottenham handed massive injury blow just hours before Man Utd tie

Son Heung-min was substituted midweek during Spurs' 3-0 Europa League victory over Qarabag due to a suspected hamstring injury

Tottenham will be without star forward Son Heung-min for their upcoming match against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The South Korean international was substituted midweek during Spurs’ 3-0 Europa League victory over Qarabag due to a suspected hamstring injury.

This setback has been deemed sufficient to rule him out for the trip to Manchester.

The 32-year-old had started the season in impressive form, scoring two goals and providing two assists in five Premier League appearances.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou had previously expressed optimism about Son’s potential involvement in the match.

“Sonny, I don’t think is too bad,” the Australian boss said in his pre-match press conference.

“He wants to train tomorrow (Saturday) and we will see how it goes and make a decision from there.

“We have another day up our sleeve to give him every chance.”

Tottenham are facing a significant challenge with the absence of Son Heung-min, which adds to their attacking injury woes.

Brazilian striker Richarlison has also been sidelined, having made only two appearances this season due to a foot issue.

Additionally, summer signing Wilson Odobert is expected to remain out until after the international break as he recovers from a thigh injury.

Despite these setbacks, the North London side still boasts some strong attacking options.

Forward Dominic Solanke, who arrived for £60 million, has scored in each of his last two appearances and will be eager to continue his scoring form at Old Trafford.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s game, he said: “We are not scared of anyone so we will go there and be on the front foot.

“One of the reasons why I was so delighted to come to Tottenham was the play style. It suits me. I love it.

“When the team is playing well, we can dominate games.

“The way that we play will create chances for me.”
