Tottenham reach ‘verbal agreement’ to sign Andy Robertson

Liverpool confirmed on Thursday evening that Andy Robertson, 32, will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season, bringing an end to a glittering nine-year spell at Anfield

Tottenham Hotspur have reached a verbal agreement to sign Andy Robertson in June 2026, with all terms in place, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Romano posted on X:Tottenham have a verbal agreement to sign Andy Robertson in June 2026, all terms in place.

“Nothing signed/sealed yet as staying in Premier League will be a key factor ahead of proceeding. Robertson, ready to pick #THFC project if relegation battle has positive outcome.”

Liverpool confirmed on Thursday evening that Andy Robertson, 32, will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season, bringing an end to a glittering nine-year spell at Anfield.

Tottenham held talks with Robertson in January, but Liverpool were unwilling to sanction a mid-season exit. His professionalism was never in doubt, and any move would only have happened if it suited all parties.

Nothing is finalised yet, with interest from across Europe, but Spurs have laid significant groundwork and are well placed to complete a deal – provided they avoid relegation.

They currently sit 17th in the Premier League, just one point above the drop zone with seven games remaining.

Andy Robertson has been Liverpool’s first-choice left-back since joining from Hull City in 2017, but has slipped down the pecking order following the arrival of Milos Kerkez.

He has made 31 appearances this season, starting just six Premier League matches.

A key figure in Liverpool’s success, Robertson has won every major trophy with the club and would bring leadership, experience and a winning mentality to Tottenham – an area they have lacked in recent seasons.

He could also support the development of Destiny Udogie and young prospect Souza.

While no longer at his peak, Robertson’s influence in the dressing room and his standards, shaped under Jürgen Klopp and Arne Slot, remain highly valued.

His departure marks the end of an era. Signed with little fanfare, Robertson became a cornerstone of one of Liverpool’s most successful periods, defined by his energy, consistency and leadership both on and off the pitch.
