Despite winning the Premier League in his debut season, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is under growing pressure.
Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham left the Reds fifth in the table with just eight games remaining, turning their title defence into a struggle and testing supporters’ patience.
While reports suggest Slot still has the club’s backing, Anfield Index sources reveal that Liverpool are preparing a shortlist of potential replacements. VFB Stuttgart head coach Sebastian Hoeneß is among the candidates.
The 43-year-old German has managed Bayern Munich II, Hoffenheim, and Stuttgart, achieving notable success with the latter.
After saving Stuttgart from relegation in 2022-23, Sebastian Hoeneß guided them back to the UEFA Champions League with a second-place finish in 2023-24 and led them to a DFB-Pokal triumph last season – the club’s first trophy since 2007.
Hoeneß is also known for developing talent, with players like Angelo Stiller flourishing under his guidance.
Liverpool see his ability to operate effectively within a structured setup alongside a sporting director as a key asset.
However, Stuttgart are currently fourth in the Bundesliga and on course for Champions League qualification, while Liverpool’s place in next season’s elite European competition remains uncertain.
