Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to miss a couple of weeks due to a hamstring injury, according to Paul Joyce.
The England international was substituted during Liverpool’s recent match against Aston Villa, with Conor Bradley coming on to replace him.
Liverpool coach Arne Slot decided not to take any risks with the talented right-back, and Trent Alexander-Arnold now has a two-week international break to recover before the Premier League returns.
Despite being called up to the England squad last week, Alexander-Arnold is unlikely to feature in the upcoming Nations League fixtures.
England are set to face Greece and Ireland in the coming weeks, but it appears the right-back will be unavailable for manager Lee Carsley.
Joyce has since confirmed that Alexander-Arnold will be sidelined for a couple of weeks, with the possibility of returning for Liverpool’s match against Southampton on November 24.
“Trent Alexander-Arnold set to be sidelined for a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury. Avoided more serious damage by coming off early against Aston Villa,” he posted on X.
“Not ruled out of Southampton on Nov 24 ahead of Real Madrid [Nov 27] and Man City [Dec 1] games.”
Liverpool face a challenging run of fixtures after the international break, and they will be keen to have Trent Alexander-Arnold available.
The Reds will first take on Southampton, before a tough stretch that includes matches against Real Madrid, Manchester City, Newcastle United, and Merseyside rivals Everton in quick succession.
While Alexander-Arnold’s injury setback is far from ideal, the fact that he is expected to be out for just two week – particularly with the international break in between – offers a silver lining for Liverpool.
There’s a good chance he will be fit to face Southampton later this month, meaning he should not miss any Premier League matches for his club.
