Alexander Isak rejects Manchester United

Isak has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool on a contract running until 2031

Alexander Isak has reiterated his desire to join Liverpool, turning down interest from Manchester United in the process, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.

The Newcastle United striker has made it clear to all parties involved that Anfield is his preferred destination this summer.

Despite Newcastle rejecting a £110million bid from Liverpool, the player’s camp remains optimistic that a deal can still be struck before the transfer window closes.

Isak has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool on a contract running until 2031.

As it stands, the Premier League champions have decided to withdraw from negotiations for Isak.

The 25-year-old joined Newcastle in 2022 from Real Sociedad in a £60million transfer.

Magpies head coach Eddie Howe said earlier this week that the club has yet to receive any bids for the striker.

“[Isak] is still our player. He’s contracted to us,” he said.

“We, to a degree, control what is next for him. I would love to believe all possibilities are still available to us. My wish is that he stays, but that’s not in my full control.

“We have not received a formal offer for Alex, from any club.”

Isak was left out of Newcastle’s squad for their pre-season tour of Asia as he seeks to explore a move away, despite the club qualifying for this season’s Champions League.

He is currently training alone at his former club, Real Sociedad, amid ongoing uncertainty about his future.

Isak was a standout performer for the Magpies last season, scoring 27 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions.
