Alexis Mac Allister now banned for Fulham tie after postponement of Merseyside derby at Everton

Alexis Mac Allister’s absence from Liverpool’s first team has been extended after the postponement of the Merseyside derby.
The highly anticipated final Premier League clash at Goodison Park against Everton, originally scheduled for Saturday lunchtime, was called off due to safety concerns following the destructive impact of Storm Darragh on Merseyside.
Mac Allister, who received a caution during the first half of Liverpool’s dramatic 3-3 draw at Newcastle United on Wednesday, was set to miss the derby after accumulating five Premier League yellow cards.
These bookings triggered an automatic one-game suspension under league rules.
Now, the Argentine midfielder will instead serve his suspension during Liverpool’s home game against Fulham next Saturday.
Adding to his absence, Mac Allister is also suspended for the upcoming Champions League group stage match against Girona on Monday, having picked up three yellow cards in European competition.
This means the Argentina international will not be available for Liverpool until the League Cup quarter-final clash at Southampton on December 18.
The midfielder has been a key figure for the Reds this season, featuring in every game until this recent suspension.
Since returning from injury at the start of the calendar year, Mac Allister has missed only two matches, underscoring his importance to Jürgen Klopp’s side.
Mac Allister is not the only Liverpool player navigating disciplinary challenges. Ryan Gravenberch’s yellow card against Newcastle pushed his tally to four in the Premier League.
The Dutch midfielder now faces a delicate task, needing to avoid a fifth caution over the next five games – up to the high-stakes home clash against Manchester United in early January – to evade a suspension.
Similarly, Ibrahima Konate is on the verge of bans in both domestic and European competitions.
The French centre-back has accumulated four yellow cards in the Premier League and two in the Champions League, leaving him one caution away from suspension in either competition.
However, Konate is currently recovering from a knee injury, which might see him avoid Premier League action until the 19-game amnesty period ends at the start of the New Year.
Liverpool’s squad depth will undoubtedly be tested as they navigate a challenging schedule and looming suspensions in multiple competitions.
