Alexis Mac Allister’s father has dismissed reports linking the Liverpool midfielder with a move to Real Madrid.

The Argentina international was part of the side beaten 1-0 by Spain in the World Cup final on Sunday, after which claims emerged suggesting he had told teammates he had played his last game for Liverpool.

Further speculation on social media alleged Liverpool would demand around £85million if Real Madrid pursued the 27-year-old during the summer transfer window.

However, Mac Allister’s father, Carlos, has rejected those claims, insisting his son is focused solely on enjoying his post-World Cup break before returning to Liverpool.

“We have not spoken to any Real Madrid official, what is being circulated about us holding talks with Real Madrid is not true,” Mac Allister Snr told 365Scores. “Alexis is still on a two-season contract with Liverpool.

“Currently, he’ll get some rest for a few days and then go back to playing in the Premier League, that’s the current situation.”

Alexis Mac Allister is expected to be given around three weeks off following the tournament and is set to report back for pre-season under new head coach Andoni Iraola in mid-August, less than two weeks before Liverpool begin their Premier League campaign at Newcastle United.
