Alisson Becker was pleased with Liverpool’s resilience as they secured a hard-fought victory over AFC Bournemouth.
The Reds won 1-0 at Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with Alexander Isak scoring just before the hour mark.
Therefore, Andoni Iraola’s side head into the international break unbeaten in seven games across all competitions this season, with Alisson telling Liverpoolfc.com after the match: “Really important [win].
“I think every Premier League match away from home is tough to play. You have to fight a lot [and] this afternoon wasn’t different for us.
“It wasn’t the cleanest performance I think we had, but those games, if you don’t play so well and then you still win it, keep the clean sheet, I think this brings confidence for the team for the rest of the season as well.”
Alisson has kept three consecutive Premier League clean sheets and made a vital save to deny Evanilson in Sunday’s first half.
He said: “I think at big clubs you’re not going to have much to do sometimes and then you need to be ready to make one save that can help the team.
“That’s part of my job, I’m there for it. I’m happy that this afternoon it contributed to the three points and to getting the clean sheet.
“But well done from the defenders as well, the team [showed] a really good fight. Again, not the cleanest performance, we have to improve a lot on the ball, sometimes without the ball as well.
“But we improved in the second half, that’s what you need to do as well in games: adapt to the opponent, to what the opponent is doing, to the difficulties you have in the match, and then fight against it and to get the result.”
Jeremy Jacquet was voted Player of the Match by supporters, while Alisson believes a collective effort was key to Liverpool keeping another clean sheet.
Alisson added: “I think Jeremy played really well. Virgil, the back four, Ronald [Araujo], Milos [Kerkez], the midfielders as well helped us a lot defensively. Everybody fights a lot.
“Jeremy, so much quality of course, but I don’t think it’s the hardest job in the world to play alongside Virgil van Dijk! Virgil helped him a lot as well.
“I tried to help Ronald as well, someone who came to make us more solid defensively, and he’s delivering as well. So, we are really happy to have them in our side.”
