Andoni Iraola expects Ryan Gravenberch, Alexander Isak, Jeremy Jacquet and Florian Wirtz to make their first pre-season appearances when Liverpool face Leeds United later this week.
The quartet were absent as the Reds defeated Wrexham 1-0 in their second friendly of the USA tour on Wednesday night.
Jacquet has been managed carefully since arriving from Rennes after recovering from shoulder surgery.
Although the £60million signing has returned to full training, he has yet to feature in either of Liverpool’s opening pre-season matches.
The defender is now expected to make his unofficial debut against Leeds, alongside Gravenberch, Wirtz and Isak, who only recently rejoined the squad following their extended summer breaks.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com ahead of the game against Wrexham, head coach Iraola said: “We are obviously missing Joe [Gomez] from the other day, he got injured.
“We have decided the ones that have just been training – Alex, Flo, Ryan, even Jeremy – to leave them for the next game.
“I think they will all be involved against Leeds.
“We have work to do today with more of the young players.”
Liverpool fielded a youthful side against Wrexham, with Milos Kerkez and captain Dominik Szoboszlai the only outfield starters who began Premier League matches last season.
Jeremie Frimpong, Curtis Jones, Rio Ngumoha and returning midfielder Harvey Elliott provided the senior experience.
With Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo still building fitness back at the AXA Training Centre, the return of Jacquet, Gravenberch, Wirtz and Isak will provide a timely boost, although they are expected to play no more than 30 to 45 minutes.
Following Sunday’s clash with Leeds in Chicago, Liverpool will return to Merseyside to continue preparations with friendlies against Monaco on August 9 and Como on August 16.
Those matches are also expected to provide the first pre-season minutes for new signing Víctor Munoz and World Cup finalist Alexis Mac Allister.
