Arne Slot hopeful Mohamed Salah’s long-term Liverpool future will be resolved

Salah's contract expires at the end of the season

Arne Slot expressed optimism that Mohamed Salah’s long-term future at Liverpool will be secured with a new contract, emphasizing the forward’s remarkable performance at Anfield.

Salah has already scored nine goals this season, but he is set to be out of contract at the end of the campaign.

This situation allows him to engage in discussions with clubs outside of England regarding a pre-contract agreement starting January 1.

Following his winning goal in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Brighton, the Egypt international shared a message on social media that read: “No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like.”

The cryptic post inevitably reignited speculation about Mohamed Salah’s future, becoming a hot topic of conversation once again as Liverpool prepare for their Champions League clash against Bayer Leverkusen.

In response, Slot expressed his hope for a resolution that would allow his No. 11 to continue his prolific scoring run on Merseyside.

“Is Salah irreplaceable? That’s not what I think about at the moment,” Arne Slot said is quoted as telling TNT Sport Brazil.

“The only thing that I think about is that he’s so important for us, scores important goals, works hard for the team and I’m hoping that he can enjoy that feeling (scoring at Anfield) many, many many more times.

“Especially if I’m here.

“But even if I’m not here I’m still hoping for him that he can do this many more times.

“He’s been incredible for Liverpool for the past six, seven eight years, I don’t know exactly how long he’s been here, and he’s been incredible for us this season.

“I hope he can continue doing this for the rest of the season and maybe longer to come.

“But that’s something up to him and the club to find the idea about the future.”
