Arsenal set to welcome Riccardo Calafiori and Takehiro Tomiyasu back from injury

Both players are expected to be available for the Gunners after the current international break

Arsenal are reportedly set to welcome defenders Riccardo Calafiori and Takehiro Tomiyasu back from injury following the international break.

In October, Calafiori suffered a medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury to his left knee during a Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Meanwhile, Tomiyasu, who has been plagued by injuries since his move to the Emirates Stadium in 2021, has most recently been sidelined due to a knee issue he picked up in July.

According to the Daily Mail, both players are expected to be available for the Gunners after the current international break.

Their return will be a significant boost for Mikel Arteta, as Arsenal have struggled for form amid a number of defensive injuries.

Ben White, who also plays in defence, is set to miss an extended period after undergoing surgery earlier this month.

This season, Arsenal have been hit by an injury crisis in defence, with Calafiori, White, Tomiyasu, Jurrien Timber, Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Kieran Tierney all missing games at various points.

Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba are the only defenders who have not been sidelined by injury.

While it may be a race for Calafiori and Tomiyasu to regain full fitness ahead of Arsenal’s next match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, November 23, Arteta will be hoping to have both players at least available for the bench.
