Bayern Munich are exploring a surprise move for highly rated Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha, according to The Athletic.
The Bundesliga champions are assessing several attacking targets and have identified the 17-year-old as their leading option on the left flank.
Rio Ngumoha is aware of Bayern’s interest, which is being driven by head coach Vincent Kompany and the club’s hierarchy, although no formal approach has yet been made to Liverpool.
Liverpool’s stance is clear – Ngumoha is not for sale. The teenager signed his first professional contract in September, committing his future to the club until 2028.
Ngumoha enjoyed a breakthrough 2025-26 campaign, making 29 appearances and contributing two goals and one assist.
His emergence was a key reason Liverpool chose not to sign a direct replacement after Luis Diaz departed for Bayern last summer.
The England youth international is currently training with Liverpool’s senior squad in Florida ahead of the World Cup and is regarded as an important part of the club’s future plans under new head coach Andoni Iraola.
Bayern’s interest reflects their long-term planning on the left side of attack, particularly with several senior forwards approaching their 30s.
However, Liverpool have no intention of entertaining offers and view Ngumoha as a player capable of becoming a regular starter in the years ahead.
With Mohamed Salah having left the club and Federico Chiesa also expected to depart, Liverpool’s focus this summer is on strengthening their attacking options rather than reducing them. As things stand, a move for Ngumoha appears highly unlikely.
