Crysencio Summerville transfer ruled out this summer despite Liverpool interest

Liverpool have ended their interest in Summerville, with no progress made on his situation at West Ham.

West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville was considered by Liverpool earlier in 2026, but the Dutchman has now been ruled out as a summer signing.

Liverpool have ended their interest in Summerville, with no progress made on his situation at West Ham.

The club are instead focusing on other winger targets as they look to replace Mohamed Salah and support £34.5million signing Victor Munoz.

The Athletic’s James Pearce reports that Liverpool held an interest in Summerville earlier in the year, but plans have since changed. RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande is now the priority, while Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola is admired.

Liverpool have also done background work on Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Koln’s Said El Mala.

Crysencio Summerville is expected to leave this summer following West Ham’s relegation to the Championship and could be available for a reduced fee, but he is not in Liverpool’s plans, with Manchester United among his suitors.

The shift in Liverpool’s stance comes amid wider changes in their recruitment direction following Arne Slot’s departure.

Denzel Dumfries had also been a target at right-back, but interest was dropped as Real Madrid moved into position. Lutsharel Geertruida, another long-term Slot favourite, had previously come close to a move and could still be considered.

While Dutch players featured prominently in earlier planning, recruitment decisions are now broader and less influenced by Slot’s network.

Andoni Iraola has also played a key role in shaping targets, including Spanish winger Victor Munoz, who was identified early through his LaLiga experience.

RB Leipzig’s Diomande remains a major target, with Liverpool preparing to return after an initial €100m (£86.3m) bid was rejected. Leipzig value him at around €130m (£112.1m), though negotiations are ongoing.
