Darwin Nunez urged his teammates to keep pushing forward after helping Liverpool extend their Premier League lead to five points.
The Uruguayan forward opened the scoring in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa, finishing clinically at the Kop end following a counter-attack led by Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.
Nunez’s third goal of the season was followed by a late strike from Salah, which sealed the victory and brought Liverpool’s record under head coach Arne Slot to 15 wins in 17 matches.
“At this moment, I feel happy to have minutes, happy to score another goal for Liverpool,” Nunez said post-match.
“I think we did a good job defensively, and attacking I think we were good too.
“I feel happy, as I said – happy for the team that we have been doing things well and that is showing when we play.
“We have to continue working, with our feet on the ground.
“We haven’t won anything yet and there’s a lot left to do.”
Results elsewhere over the weekend saw Slot’s side extend their advantage at the top of the Premier League, having dropped just five points after 11 matches.
They also lead their Champions League group with four consecutive victories and have a Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Southampton scheduled for next month.
“As I always say, I’m focused here on Liverpool, we don’t look outwards,” added Darwin Nunez.
“We have to continue working with our feet on the ground.
“And hopefully in the end of the season [we can reach] the goal and we can celebrate it with the people, so that they are the ones who have to celebrate with us the most.”
