Liverpool have just a day or two on the training pitch before returning to action following their 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.
After coming from behind to secure the win at Anfield, Arne Slot’s side must now focus on the Champions League.
On Tuesday night, the Reds will face Bayer Leverkusen at Anfield.
Liverpool have made a perfect start in the revamped Champions League, winning all three of their opening matches.
Only Aston Villa have matched this impressive points tally after three outings.
While Xabi Alonso will be warmly welcomed by the home supporters, the Spaniard will be aiming to lead his team to victory against his former club.
David O’Connell weighs in on Liverpool’s prospects for winning the Premier League this season.
What do you make of the Reds’ slow start to games this season?
David O’Connell: I think that although Liverpool are top of the table it is still work in progress. It was a sloppy first half today but some small tweaks and added energy changed the game in the second half. Arne Slot said himself this week that he is still working with developing the squad. It’s a new system and a new style of play. For Liverpool to be doing so well while under transition it’s fantastic. I think as the Liverpool squad works longer with Arne Slot the initial slow periods will be a thing of the past.
Arne Slot is the first Liverpool manager to win eight of their opening 10 Premier League games. What a start to his Anfield career!
David O’Connell: Initially it was thought in football circles that it may take Liverpool time to understand Arne Slot’s tactical demands and style of play. But there has been a seamless transition from Jurgen Klopp’s tenure.
Are Liverpool title contenders following their impressive start to the season?
David O’Connell: It has to be said that Liverpool are title contenders. Especially as no other side in the league seem to be as dominant as they have in the past. Even Manchester City now look susceptible to losing to other Premier League teams that they would not lose to in the past.
