Gary Neville has tipped Liverpool to defeat Chelsea on Sunday, highlighting the challenge Enzo Maresca’s young team will face at Anfield.
The Reds will be looking to maintain their strong start to the season and stay at the top of the Premier League with another three points against their London rivals.
Chelsea have also been in fine form, going unbeaten in six games since their opening day loss to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. Despite being the league’s second-highest scorers, behind City, the Blues have conceded six more goals than Liverpool.
Adding to Chelsea’s difficulties, they will be without key defenders Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella, both suspended for the match. The two players have been crucial for Maresca this season, consistently featuring in the lineup.
Chelsea, with their youthful squad and a new manager experiencing Anfield for the first time, may struggle to handle the famous atmosphere. Neville believes this inexperience could be a key factor in the game, giving Liverpool the edge.
“Liverpool vs Chelsea we will start with that”, Gary Neville said on Stick to Football podcast.
“I think Liverpool will beat them, I think Chelsea are a bit younger, 3-2, 3-1?
“We’ll go with Liverpool 3-1.
“I think it will be a big atmosphere that day.”
