Jeremy Jacquet picks up injury on international duty with France

Jeremy Jacquet will now return to Liverpool for further medical assessments and scans to determine the severity of the injury

Liverpool have been handed an injury blow after defender Jeremy Jacquet picked up a hamstring issue while on international duty with France.

The French Football Federation confirmed that the centre-back suffered a strain to his left hamstring, making him a doubt for Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League clash with Manchester City.

Jacquet felt tightness during pre-match preparations and was subsequently withdrawn from the starting XI as a precaution.

Fabrice Hawkins reported that the 21-year-old would miss the France-Belgium clash after feeling a strain in his left hamstring.

Jeremy Jacquet will now return to Liverpool for further medical assessments and scans to determine the severity of the injury.

The Frenchman has quickly established himself as a key player since arriving at Anfield in the summer, forming an impressive partnership with captain Virgil van Dijk.

His absence would be a major concern for Liverpool ahead of their meeting with Manchester City, particularly with Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak also dealing with injury concerns during the international break.
