Liverpool receive positive update on Alexis Mac Allister fitness ahead of Chelsea clash

Liverpool have received encouraging news regarding the fitness of Alexis Mac Allister ahead of this weekend’s Premier League showdown with Chelsea.

The midfielder was substituted at half-time during the Reds’ 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace earlier this month due to complaints about his right adductor muscle.

Despite this issue, Mac Allister travelled to South America to join the Argentina squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia.

The 25-year-old did not participate in Thursday’s 1-1 draw with La Vinotinto, as he trained separately from the team in preparation for the match.

However, Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has confirmed that Liverpool’s No. 10 is back in full team training and could feature against Bolivia in Buenos Aires in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

“Alexis trained normally yesterday (Sunday) and today we will decide if he is fit to play.

“We will know after training,” he said during his pre-match press conference on Monday.

According to a report from the Argentinian outlet TyC Sports, there is ‘good news’ for coach Lionel Scaloni, as Alexis Mac Allister has reportedly ‘responded smoothly’ in recent training sessions.

This development suggests he is likely to start for Argentina in their upcoming match against Bolivia.

Meanwhile, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot will be eager to have Alexis Mac Allister fit and performing well for the Reds as they prepare to host Chelsea at Anfield this weekend.

Chelsea have made an impressive start under new head coach Enzo Maresca and currently sits fourth in the Premier League table.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have enjoyed a strong start to the season, winning nine of their first 10 games in all competitions.

However, Sunday’s clash against Chelsea mark the beginning of a challenging run of fixtures for the Reds.
