Liverpool confident of completing Marc Guehi deal

Guehi has already given the green light to a move to Anfield and is eager for the transfer to be finalised

Liverpool are making progress in their bid to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, with talks between the two clubs ongoing for several weeks, according to Sky Sports Switzerland.

The Reds are increasingly confident of concluding a deal for the England international.

Guehi, along with teammate Eberechi Eze, made it clear over the weekend that he is open to leaving Selhurst Park, with both players urging Palace chairman Steve Parish to consider offers.

Palace, however, have insisted that any deal for Guehi will only be sanctioned if Liverpool meet their £45million valuation.

Fresh discussions have taken place in recent hours as both clubs work towards an agreement, though Palace are reluctant to lose their key defender without first securing an ideal replacement.

Guehi has already given the green light to a move to Anfield and is eager for the transfer to be finalised.

Should the deal be completed, the 24-year-old centre-back is expected to sign a five-year contract with Liverpool.

Guehi has less than 12 months left on his contract at Selhurst Park, leaving Palace facing the possibility of selling him now to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Having captained the Eagles in their Community Shield victory over Liverpool last weekend, Guehi once again played the full 90 minutes against his former club Chelsea.

After the match, Glasner praised the defender’s professionalism, alongside that of Eberechi Eze – another Palace star attracting interest, with Tottenham among the suitors.

“There’s a lot of rumours about Eberechi and Marc Guehi, but I think everyone who watched the game saw they’re 100% with this group, with this group and it’s what we expect from our players that they give 100%,” he told Sky Sports.

“We rely on each other and they proved it in a brilliant way.”
