Liverpool youngster Stefan Bajcetic’s future has been settled after months of uncertainty.
The Spanish midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at Las Palmas, following a difficult spell with RB Salzburg.
Three clubs in Spain were keen to take him on loan again this summer, but not on a permanent deal.
Liverpool, however, have decided to keep him at Anfield and give him another chance to revive his career after a series of injury setbacks.
Bajcetic was expected to be involved in Arne Slot’s pre-season plans, but hamstring surgery ruled him out.
Despite that, Paul Joyce reported that Bajcetic will remain on Merseyside, with Liverpool keen to keep him – especially following Tyler Morton’s departure and James McConnell’s loan move to Ajax.
Bajcetic showed his immense potential when he broke into Jurgen Klopp’s side during the 2022/23 season, making 11 Premier League appearances.
Since then, however, persistent injuries have limited him to just three senior outings.
If he can regain full fitness, Bajcetic could become an important option for Slot.
The 19-year-old is technically gifted, comfortable in both the number six and number eight roles, and would give Liverpool valuable depth while easing the load on Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai.
With a huge ceiling and natural ability, Bajcetic has the chance to establish himself as a key figure in Slot’s squad – and potentially save Fenway Sports Group millions in the transfer market.
If he gets back to his best, he could prove to be a major asset as Liverpool look to defend their Premier League crown.
