Liverpool interested in signing 18-year-old PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye

Liverpool are weighing up a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye as they continue their search for attacking reinforcements, according to the Daily Mail.
The Reds are also monitoring Mbaye’s PSG teammate Bradley Barcola, with concerns over the squad’s attacking depth prompting the club to explore further additions.
Mbaye, 18, enjoyed an impressive World Cup campaign with Senegal and has emerged as a potential long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah, who left Anfield and is closing in on a move to Trabzonspor.
A natural right winger, Mbaye is viewed as a better stylistic fit than Barcola, who primarily operates on the left.
Liverpool were informed of Mbaye’s availability earlier in the transfer window, although Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayer Leverkusen have also shown interest, with the Bundesliga club believed to have made the most progress.
PSG are expected to demand a significant fee for both players, with Barcola valued at more than £150million.
Talks between the clubs are ongoing, and Liverpool are expected to make a decision in the coming days.
Ibrahim Mbaye has been with PSG since 2018, making 33 senior appearances and scoring four goals. After representing France at youth level, he switched his international allegiance to Senegal in 2025.
He made history at the World Cup by becoming the youngest African player to score in the tournament, netting against France.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have no intention of selling Cody Gakpo despite interest from Tottenham. The Dutch forward, who is under contract until 2030, remains a key part of the club’s plans.
Although Gakpo scored nine goals last season, down from the 18 he managed in the 2024-25 campaign, Liverpool continue to value the 27-year-old highly and would only consider an exceptional offer.
