Liverpool reach £120m deal in principle to sign PSG forward Bradley Barcola

PSG had previously valued the France international at around £145m

Liverpool have reached an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Bradley Barcola in a deal worth £120m, according to Sky Sports.

The transfer has not yet been finalised, with the final details still being discussed, but a breakthrough has been reached in negotiations. PSG had previously valued the France international at around £145m.

Sporting director Richard Hughes and Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon are leading Liverpool’s negotiations, with the final details being ironed out on Thursday morning.

Bradley Barcola is committed to joining Liverpool and had made it clear that he does not want to extend his PSG contract, which has two years remaining. He was also left out of their squad for Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Rennes.

The 23-year-old emerged as Liverpool’s primary target to replace Mohamed Salah and can operate on either wing.

He made 49 appearances last season, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists as PSG retained the Ligue 1 title and won the Champions League.

A move for Barcola could also have implications for Cody Gakpo, who has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

Liverpool will be hoping this saga reaches its conclusion soon. Barcola has been their primary attacking target all summer, and his pace, directness and creativity could provide a major boost to Iraola’s side.

The France international would give Liverpool another dangerous winger capable of playing a key role in the manager’s new attacking system.

After a quiet summer of anticipation, supporters finally have a major signing to get excited about.
